With less than a month until Season 3 of Prime Video’s The Boys premieres, we’ve just acquired a new image to tide us over until the title characters and their superhuman adversaries return to our screens. The show depicts a gang of super-heroes who believe their skills place them above the law – and they’re allowed to believe that while a public relations firm successfully promotes their world-saving deeds, making them appear altruistic.
The Boys are a group of people who are trying to prove to the world that being a superhero isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, all while exposing the skeletons in The Seven’s closet (the series’ Avengers or Justice League), and all heroes represented by Vought International – the public relations firm in charge of their image. In matching jumpsuits, Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), The Female (Karen Fukuhara), and Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) appear to be ready to drop some heroic blood.
Season 3 may see a change in the dynamic of the anti-superhero team The Boys, as group leader Billy is said to be acquiring his own set of abilities. Whether this happens by chance or on purpose, it will undoubtedly be a turning moment in the tale, as it may potentially put Billy on an equal footing with Homelander (Anthony Starr), the leader of The Seven, a Superman-like figure who actively protects his own and Vought’s interests.
Season 3 of The Boys, as the teaser suggests, will be one of the most brutal and adventurous yet, underscoring the series’ theme of subverting the superhero genre. The new season of the programme will adapt Herogasm, one of The Boys’ most frightening comic book arcs, which revolves around an annual, over-the-top superhero party where illegal substances and filthy sexual fantasies are perfectly normal forms of entertainment.
The Boys is based on Garth Ennis and Derick Robertson’s best-selling graphic novels. Erick Kripke, an Emmy nominee, adapted it for television (Supernatural). Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Colby Minifie, and Claudia Doumit round out the cast. Jensen Ackles, who previously appeared on Supernatural, returns as Soldier Boy, the series’ twisted take on Captain America.
Season 3 of The Boys will release on Prime Video on June 3 with three episodes. The final five episodes will be released on a weekly basis. Take a look at the image below:
